Working with AI in parallel means two tracks at the same time. You do the work that needs your judgement. AI drafts the work that follows a pattern. You then check the AI track and join the two. This post gives you a two-track plan.

Who This Is For
Executives and managers with full days who use AI one question at a time.
One Track or Two
| One Track: AI as a Search Box | Two Tracks: AI in Parallel | |
|---|---|---|
| How you work | You stop, ask AI, wait and copy. | You give AI a task, then continue your own work. |
| What AI does | Answers one question. | Drafts a full piece: a report, a chart, a summary. |
| What you do | Rewrite the answer. | Check the draft, decide and send. |
Five Steps to Two Tracks
- List your tasks for tomorrow. Mark each one: thinking or pattern.
- Give each pattern task to AI with a short brief: goal, reader, format, sources.
- Start AI first. Then do the thinking tasks yourself.
- Check the AI drafts at fixed times, for example 11 am and 4 pm.
- Keep a list of the briefs that worked. Use them again next week.
Example: A Monthly Sales Review
Mei Ling is a sales executive in Penang. Her monthly review takes one full day.
- Track 1, Mei Ling: she calls three customers about late orders. Only she can do this.
- Track 2, AI: it turns the sales export into three charts and a one-page summary.
- At 4 pm she checks the charts against the export. She corrects one figure.
- The review is ready by 5 pm, not the next afternoon.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Watching AI type. Give it the task, then do your own work.
- No check time. Drafts pile up and nobody reads them.
- Giving AI the thinking tasks. AI drafts; you decide.
Try It This Week
Choose one report you make every week. Brief AI to draft it while you do your calls.
