A touchpoint is any place a customer meets your brand. Map them along the customer journey. For each one, write three things: what the customer sees, what it should say, and the owner. This post gives you the audit sheet.
Learn these skills in the course Brand Management (MC-BM), module 4.
Who This Is For
Marketing and sales staff who see the brand used in different ways.
The Touchpoint Audit Sheet
| Journey Stage | Touchpoint | What the Customer Sees Today | What It Should Say | Owner |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aware | Social post | Old logo, mixed colours | Brand essence in one line | Marketing |
| Consider | Website product page | Long technical text | The customer problem first, then proof | Marketing |
| Buy | Quotation | Plain template | Brand elements and one proof line | Sales |
| Use | Delivery note and invoice | No brand | Logo and a thank-you line in the brand tone | Operations |
| Return | Service call | Each staff says it differently | The same short brand story | Customer service |
How to Run the Audit
- List every touchpoint from first contact to repeat purchase.
- Collect a real sample of each, a photo or a screenshot.
- Fill in the sheet: today, should say, owner.
- Mark the three touchpoints that most customers meet. Fix those first.
- Repeat the audit every six months.
Example: A Furniture Retailer
Take a furniture retailer with four showrooms in the Klang Valley. Its delivery team wore no uniform and gave no card. The audit made the delivery a touchpoint. Uniforms and a care card now carry the brand.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Auditing only marketing materials. Invoices, delivery and calls are touchpoints too.
- No owner per touchpoint. Each one needs a named team.
- Fixing everything at once. Start with the three busiest touchpoints.
Try It This Week
Choose one customer journey stage. List its touchpoints. Take a photo of each one.
